No Seriously. Watch it. Like, go to the link and watch it.
Did you watch it yet? Last call!
Beauty. It's a huge part of who God is and the way that He has created women specifically in His image. God has created women with an unquenchable desire to be breathtakingly beautiful, gentle, pursued, protected and found valuable. I don't care how unhealthy, tom-boy-ish or damaged you are, God's given this desire to every single women He ever created. I guess in the end, we want to feel wanted. (Well played, Hunter Hayes. Dang your angelic voice and looks!) :) As women, God's created us to show our strength through mercy, nurturing and sacrificial living. That is a portion of God's character that He's given us to shine in, to own and enjoy as His gift to us.
Why do you think that self-image is probably one of the number one insecurities that most women have, if we're all brave enough to admit it? Yeah, exactly. That stupid, lying serpent is bent on making all of us as miserable as he possibly can, and he is attacking God himself, but he's also attacking you. You're just collateral damage. Satan hates God. God is beautiful. He also hates God's creation and people, which are also beautiful. So basically he's doing all he can to ravage and damage healthy self-images, speak lies into people's lives, and teach you about worldly beauty.
Sisters, don't let him. You are valuable. You're loved, and always enough. Not in yourself, none of us are. But in Christ, you have that new identity. Don't fall for lies. It's easy for me to say this to other people, because I can see in them some of what God does, much easier than I can myself. I see my flaws and faults first almost all the time. But on the opposite extreme, if any of the precious, young girls in my life came to me and said they felt ugly, and didn't feel loveable, my heart would break with theirs, and I would squish them in a huge hug and speak truth to them. I am gonna go out on a limb here and assume I'm not the only one who feels that way? We don't have a hard time seeing beauty, but we have a hard time seeing it in ourselves and beat ourselves up over it when we can't find that beauty. But here's the thing: if that's how we would handle others, than that's how we need to handle ourselves.
So ladies, next time you're having "one of those days" -and I know we all do- be gentle with yourself, crawl up in the arms of Love Himself and listen to HIS truth. Don't just hear it. Do something about it and allow it to transform you. Because His truth and word is all that matters. And He says you're Beautiful, worth it, enough, and valuable. So next time, tell the enemy to sit down and shut up. He's not your Daddy. You don't have to listen to him.
